Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 June 2026
This policy explains how JWC Services Limited, trading as Watson Dairy Consulting (“we”, “us”, “our”), collects and uses personal data when you visit this website (www.dairyconsultant.co.uk) or contact us through it. We are the data controller for that information. We are registered in Scotland, company number SC246124. If you have any question about your data, contact John Watson at jw@dairyconsultant.co.uk or on +44 1224 861 507.
1. What data we collect
1.1 When you use our contact form or email us, we collect the information you choose to provide — typically your name, email address, telephone number (if you give it) and the content of your message.
1.2 Our web server automatically records limited technical data so the site runs reliably and securely: your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, and the pages you request. This is standard server-log information.
1.3 We do not collect special category data (such as health, ethnicity or similar), and we do not collect or process payment-card details — this site takes no payments.
2. Why we use it, and our lawful basis
2.1 To respond to your enquiry and, where relevant, to discuss or provide consultancy services. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in dealing with enquiries about our services (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)); and, where an enquiry leads to an engagement, the performance of a contract or steps taken at your request before entering one (Article 6(1)(b)).
2.2 To keep the website secure and working correctly (the technical data in 1.2). Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in the security and proper operation of the site.
2.3 We do not use your data for marketing, advertising, profiling or automated decision-making, and we do not send promotional emails.
3. Who we share it with
3.1 We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data, and we do not share it for anyone’s marketing.
3.2 Your data is handled on our behalf only by the service providers that host this website and carry our email. They process it solely to provide those services to us, under appropriate contractual terms.
3.3 We will disclose data only where we are required to do so by law, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
3.4 If our business is sold or transferred, relevant data may pass to the new owner, who will be bound by a policy at least as protective as this one. Where the law requires, you will be informed in advance and given the opportunity to object.
4. Where your data is stored
Our website and email are hosted on servers in the United Kingdom / European Economic Area. If any data is transferred outside the UK, we will ensure it is protected by appropriate safeguards (such as a UK adequacy decision or the ICO’s International Data Transfer Agreement).
5. How long we keep it
We keep enquiry correspondence only for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any resulting work, plus a reasonable period afterwards for our business records, after which it is deleted. Routine server logs are kept only for a short period, for security.
6. Your rights
6.1 Under UK data protection law you have the right to: be informed about how your data is used; access a copy of your data; have inaccurate data corrected; have your data erased; restrict or object to our processing; and, where applicable, data portability. Where we rely on consent for anything, you may withdraw it at any time.
6.2 There is normally no charge for exercising these rights, and we will respond within one month. To make a request, email jw@dairyconsultant.co.uk.
6.3 You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would ask that you contact us first so we can try to put things right.
7. Cookies and tracking
7.1 This website uses no advertising, marketing or analytics cookies, and does not track your activity across this or any other website. We do not show cookie pop-ups because we set no cookies that require your consent.
7.2 The only storage and access technologies used are those strictly necessary to operate the website securely and to deliver the features you actively request. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR, strictly necessary technologies of this kind do not require consent. We use no third-party advertising, analytics, tracking or CAPTCHA services. Our contact form is protected from spam by a privacy-friendly method that sets no cookies and shares no data with any third party.
7.3 Managing cookies. You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will not affect your ability to read or use this website.
8. Security
Data security is important to us. We use appropriate physical, electronic and managerial measures to safeguard the information collected through this site.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, or as the law requires. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date above.
